Aid Association for Friedens (AAF)
AAF members are involved with the preparation and sales of fundraisers such as the Easter egg sale. Members also help prepare and serve food for various hospitality events. Some events have included a birthday party for Jesus and the mid-week Lenten meal. AAF meetings are held every three months on the second Sunday. Contact Nancy Filler if you need more information or are interested in becoming part of this committee.
Finance
The finance committee oversees all the financial affairs of the congregation to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently. This includes payment of all obligations, forwarding benevolence monies to the synod treasurer, and annual audits. This committee also prepares a draft budget for the succeeding year, submits it to church council for its action, and then presents it during the congregational meeting. Contact Diane Ernst if you need more information or are interested in becoming part of this committee.
Friends in Faith (FIF)
VISION STATEMENT
We will do God’s work through serving Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and the surrounding communities.
PURPOSE
1) Demonstrate to all members how to increase faith within ourselves and the church,
2) Encourage those within our church to enjoy increased fellowship with each other along with those in our community,
3) Demonstrate to our youth that God is with them during good and bad times,
4) Educate our youth and congregation in faith following God’s way,
5) Encourage recruitment and retainment through fellowship activities,
6) Focus on supporting those in need, (I.E. struggling church members, Children’s Home of Easton, Food Bank, sending wellness cards, etc.),
7) Increase positive communication and cooperation throughout the congregation.
Please contact Kristin Nepomunceno if you are interested in participating on this committee.
Property
The property committee maintains and protects all property and equipment belonging to the congregation. They ensure everything is kept in good repair and is adequately insured. Regular inspections are performed and recommendations for improvements or repairs are presented to council. While this committee is empowered to make minor repairs, large long range planning projects are submitted to church council. Contact Kevin Filler if you notice something in need of repair, are interested in becoming a member of this committee or want to volunteer for one of the work parties.
Social Ministries
The social ministries committee extends Christian compassion and helpfulness to all persons in need of aid in body or soul. It arranges lay visitation to those who are shut-in, hospitalized or institutionalized. A prayer chain is always in effect. This committee meets on the second Wednesday of every month. Contact Jean Wetzel if you know of someone in need of prayer or are interested in becoming part of this committee.
Worship and Music
The worship and music committee assists the church council in seeing that the worship services are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgy of the ELCA. They recruit and train ushers, care for the hymnals and musical instruments, employ the organist and supervise the Altar Guild in addition to running the choir, bell choir and children's choir.
Contact Janet Heckman if you need more information or are interested in becoming part of this committee.
